Hi all,

Just had to share this. I got my new DNS210 cab on Monday. It got here just before I had to take off for practice, so unpacked it; put it in the back of my truck; and headed off to practice. I took two amps with me. One was my Eden TN226, which is a 225-watt class D amp. I've had trouble with it clipping when driving a single Eden EX112-4 and I wasn't using and bass boost, Enhance, etc. I just add a little boost ~250Hz. That speaker will handle 300-watts but had to run the auto-compressor to keep it from clipping.

I found an Eden repair center about an hour away and am going to take that in there and have them check it out. In any case I wasn't confident that it would drive this DNS210 any better than the EX-112, so I brought along my RS400 (Eden Nemesis), which drives that 112 with no problem. Well, I ended up leaving that RS400 in the truck because the TN226 drove this new DNS-210 to rehearsal levels just fine. The DNS-210 is a far more sensitive cab than that E-series Eden cab is.

Anyhow, I am really pleased with my DNS210 because I can use it all by itself on most of my gigs (small and medium venues) and it has the same clear, full, and articulate sound that my DNS-410 does. For larger gigs, outdoor gigs, and outdoor Festivals, I'll continue to use my DNS-410. This will also allow me to sell both of the EX-112's, which will make my wife happy.

Although this 610 stack really looks cool, I'm not sure where I would run both at once. The DNS410 by itself is more than enough for outdoor festivals, but it sure looks cool. One thing I noticed though is the new DNS cabs have a gold circle and lettering while my 2015 DNS-410 has silver circle and lettering. Perhaps I should get a new badge with the gold for my 410?

Next on the list to get is the DNA-800 amp to drive it. The WT500/800 that you see driving this now was upgraded to 800-watts bridged at 8 ohms by David hisownself, and was his personal amp that he used on his test bench for developing cabs at Eden. He sold it to me in 2010 when he started DNA. Great sound with this amp, but it IS heavy, so a DNA-800 is in my future...or maybe a 1350? Just got this cab and already I have G.A.S.

The 210 is a very big cab.

Yes, bigger than any other 210 cabs that David has designed. I presume that's because of the shelf port. If I recall from some of the SEAL videos it has a flared and textured shelf port, which is taller than the standard straight shelf port. The flaring and texturing is to increase air-flow of the cab if I recall correctly. It's a great sounding cab. It sounds just like my DNS-410. Even though it is taller than other 210's, I turn it on its side at rehearsals so I can reach my amp easier.

I was pleased to find out that my Eden TN226 powered it just fine at rehearsal levels. It was real "iffy" to power the EX112-4 that I originally got it to run. I had to run the gain almost entirely open and still turn master way up. It kept clipping and I couldn't use the bass boost button on it either. This is with the Enhance off, and EQ flat except for just a little boost ~250Hz. With the EX112 I had to engage the auto-compressor, which I don't really like to do, to keep it from clipping. Come to find out there is an Eden Repair center about an hour away, so I will take it in there and have them go through it. I can't believe it has such a hard time running that EX-112. It should be a great match for that little cab.

No need to worry about any of that on the DNS-210. On the DNS-210 even though I still run the gain way up to just get a chance of having that gain set-light show up, I don't need to turn the master anywhere near where I did before. AND, I played it with the bass boost on for a few songs and no problems there either.

This is really a confirmation that cabinet sensitivity matters. I plan to run it with my WT500/800 bridged (800-watts) into this for gigs, just in case I need it. Since it will handle 700-watts and has a maximum SPL of 134db, I don't think I'll ever have to worry about playing it loud enough to hurt it because it would blow my ears out if I did.

Back in the early 70's when I was touring and playing 5-nights a week, 50-weeks a year for 3-years, there were very few FOH systems at clubs. We brought out own PA system with us and used that only for vocals. So I played too close to my very loud Standel amp all the time. Result is that my hearing is fine below 3KHz, but above 3KHZ, it dives right down to the bottom of the graph. I can still hear those higher frequencies, but I have to play things really loud to do so. So now, I wear hearing aids, which I have been cautioned to turn off or remove when performing.

I understand. I was working on jet planes and in industries that create a lot of noise.
I always wear good and better hearing protection to enjoy my hobby as long as possible.

It's a small company from Germany and gets bigger and bigger.
The owner is a great guy and a bass player himself.
At the moment you got to wait 3 month for a IE.
You can choose colors, the cables are with plugs (easy to replace), you can have an extra ambient opening with filter and the face plate the way you like it.
There is a 3 way system inside, so very nice for drummers and bass players.
He also refits old other systems. I gave him my Hear Safe HS15-2 to put them in new plastics with all the extras I couldn't have from Hear Safe. I can then compare the quality of the sound. The HS15-2 was rated as one of the best for a long time.
