Can't wait

Postby grimjim » Tue Jul 25, 2017 3:48 pm

Just ordered a 1350 and a 4x10. I'm like a kid waiting for Christmas.

It's here! Got it sent to work. I'm gonna go there on the weekend and fire it up at a proper volume. One stupid question. If I am only using one cab, can I plug it into either output? I'm used to one being labeled mono.

I fried a head by wiring it to a cab wrong so I'm kind of paranoid.

Yes, you can plug into either of the outputs.
They are parallel.
Rock on!

Hey Cheri,

Welcome to the Gene Pool!
Some of the greatest gear in the world is here! I personally have the DNS410 cab and it's killer! Super clear, rich, articulate and LOUD! Seriously, this is a crazy loud cab or as one of our members, rinos88, often says, "My 410 will beat your 810". And you know what...he's right!

If you're not aware of who David Nordschow is, he was the founder of Eden back in around 1976 or so. He sold Eden to USM back in about 2008(??) and left them in ~2009. In 2010 he started his new company - David Nordschow Amplification (DNA). First thing he did was develop a range of cabs with speakers that had larger voice coils with longer excursion, higher power handling, and new porting methods and crossover circuits. They are full range cabs with a very flat (Hi-Fi) frequency response. If you are familiar with his earlier design of the XST cabs for Eden, these are the next step up. They are also very efficient speakers with the 410 having an SPL rating of 106db 2.83v (1-wat)/1M. So it doesn't take a lot of power to run them, but they get loud quickly.

After coming out with two different 112's (DNS112 and DNS112-micro), a 110, a 210, a 115, and a 410 cab, he introduced an incredibly full-featured class D amp, the DNA-1350. At just 7 pounds, it puts out 1350-watts rms, has a normal effects send/return, a side chain effects send/return, a studio quality compressor (threshold, ratio, attack, release), an aux-in, and a mute button. EQ is handled with bass, low-mid, high-mid, and treble. Also has a shape control that is most useful for playing at lower levels, or for playing slap.

After that big boy had been out for about 3-years(?), he just released the "little brother" DNA-800 this year. At 4.7 pounds, it puts out 800-watts rms and has most of the features of its big brother with a simplified control set. The compressor is not as complex but with threshold and ratio, is far better than the 1-knob compressors you see on a lot of amps. It still has the effects sen/return of course but not the side-chain effects. At 800-watts, it's more than enough for most people's needs and one of the best things about this beauty is that it's about half the price of the 1350. The street price for the 1350 is usually around $1450 and the 800 can be found between $749 and $799.

BassMusicianMagazine.com did a nice review of it earlier this year and you can hear how the DNA-800 sounds through the DNS-210 through the link below: He does a nice job of going through the features of the amp. I keyed to the part of the video where he first starts talking about the amp. If you want to hear the comparison of the DNA112 and the DNA210 cabs, just start the video at the beginning.

So, now you may just know more than you wanted to, about DNA and its products!

Ah, yes, welcome aboard. There are hidden, subliminal messages in my posts that will have you wanting a 1350 amp and 410 cab.

Hey, GrimJim, have you received your new rig yet? We are awaiting your 72 page review that ranges from first impressions to gigging thoughts, as well as the seismic reading graphs from your area at the point in which you realize how much power the thing has.

To be fair, you should also give the whole line a look. The little brother to the 1350 may 'only' be 800 watts, but sounds incredible. I played one through a 2x10 and was extremely impressed.

If you only need a rig that can seismically blow up 3 planets at once and not an entire solar system, I'd recommend that setup. It's super light weight, too.
