1350 Side Chain Question

Postby Goldhawk » Thu Mar 09, 2017 11:37 am

Since the day I received my 1350, I have run a reverb pedal through the side chain. I love the feature. I removed it for the first time yesterday and noticed that there is a significant decrease in output volume of the amp. When I use a patch cable to connect the side chain the volume comes back.

Anyone have an explanation for this???

Thanks...Tim Goldhawk

Might just need to clean the outputs/inputs with Craig's DeOxit 5 (red label can). The signal chain goes through most of the jacks in the back regardless of whether it's being used or not. If you get any dirt, oxidation, etc, on them It can interfere with the signal causing, hum, lower volume, intermittent cutting out, etc. It tends to build up more on unused jacks because nothing is knocking any of the oxidation or contamination off.

When you use a 1/4" phone plug in it, that can scrape off some of the oxidation and give you a good contact while you are connected. That can explain why it works fine with the patch cable and effects cables hooked up but not work as well without them.

To clean the jacks, spray a small amount of DeOxit into the jack and then spray it on the tip and barrel of a 1/4" plug. Work the 1/4" plug in and out of each jack 10 to 15 times and that will clean it right up. Continue through all the input/output 1/4" jacks on the amp regardless of whether or not you use them. A annual cleaning of all those jacks will keep it in good shape and prevent a lot of problems.

If that doesn't take care of it, then might need some tech-time to fix it. But, I'd be surprised if that doesn't clear it up.

Does turning the side chain volume all the way up make any difference?

When the side chain is connected, turning up the volume makes a difference. When the chain is open it does not.

Can someone from DNA please respond to the email I sent a week ago asking the same question???????

If you are referring to the "PM sent" it means that rino88 has sent you a personal message.
