How do you upload a local picture? Inquiring minds want to know!

If you buy it right the first time, you have nothing to be ashamed of!

Bass: Roscoe SKB 3005 - Sculpted quilt maple top on a swamp ash body. Tobaccoburst finish. 35" scale 24 fret maple neck. Bartolini pickups & 3 band preamp.

ok. Silly me. there is a section below this with a tap to upload an attachment...

So what has failed: .bmp type files

Buy what has worked?: .jpg

I had to open up the Microsoft Paint application, open up my picture, and save it as a .jpg - a different type of picture format (just so you folks would get the picture, as so to speak...

It works!

Don't try to upload .bmp files anywhere on the net. BMP = Bit Mapped File. That means it is a pixel by pixel mapping of the picture and results in a humongous file. That file format started even before the .gif format. Paint is one of the few programs that will even read it anymore. About the only way you will generate a .bmp file is with a screenshot and even then most programs give you the option of saving it as a .gif or a .jpg. If you want a picture to show up in a browser, it needs to be a GIF (.gif), a Jpeg (.jpg) or a Ping (.png) file.

Of those the .jpg usually gives the best picture with the smallest file. However, the jpg needs to be the final form of the file. If you open a jpg, modify it and then save it as a jpg again, it looks terrible because it throws away too much information in the file.
