Roy Vogt........Dear, God!

I was looking through the videos and came across Roy playing the new cabs, then proceeded to watch other videos on youtube of him. X1,000,000.

Holy Jeebuz, this guy has a slap technique that I'd sell a kidney to have. His playing reminds me of me in many respects, but about a lightyear ahead.

I'm 31 years old and have been playing since I was 8. Watching his videos makes me feel like a total beginner again.

Please excuse me while I now order everything this guy has played on.

Yeah... Roy is one sacry b@st@rd. He's also VERY humble about it all... and a wonderful friend.

While you're ordering... get his Teach Me Bass Guitar course. Even with all your time on the bass, it will be worth it. I've got 40 years on this plank, and I still learn from TMBG. Go to my web site and check out my review. Then order from there, and I make a dollah! (smile)

Yeah, I'll order it from your site this Friday. That is a definite must-have video from the clips I've seen.

I was talking to my band members about Roy's videos. They say I'm closer to him than I think, but I see so many insane nuances in his playing that I don't feel I have, it just makes my head spin. This guy has just seriously inspired me.

I'll put him on my list of people I have to see play live and/or meet.

THX Lane for your help, again ;)

Already have my TMBG DVD set and am working through them as I have time. Roy's instruction is clear and to the point. The instructional materials and the loops available on the DVD are first rate (they have an updated version of the book out shortly) and playin' with the band is a hoot.

I've picked up on a number of sloppy/bad habits I've developed over the years and made changes that have made a difference. Good Stuff.

Sorry Lane, didn't get my copy through your site, (so no buck for you ;) )but your able assistance in getting the hardcopy manual, and the long conversation we had around that, was most appreciated.

I still haven't figured out how to download the manual from the webpage.
Any idea Tobiasman?

Bassman,
Since you purchased the DVDs, have you signed up for Thunder Row? Registering there gets you access to stuff/resources that are not available to the public.

If you have hooked up with Thunder Row, go to TMGB Book Update and send a message to david@thelearningdock.com . Everyone who has registered should receive an eMail message from David via the YouSendIt system with a link to download the .pdf file.

BTW, the manual is included in DVD #5 of the DVD set. You have to view the contents of the DVD on your computer, not your DVD player, and click the .pdf to view/print the manual. The online version is basically the same as that on the DVD, just corrects some minor glitches identified by the first users.

I actually purchased the hard copy manual because it is spiral bound and easy to lay out flat when I'm going through stuff.

Bassman,
Here is a bit of explanation on how to find and view/print the manual.

"Just a reminder for TMBG owners who are having difficulty finding and opening the TMBG .pdf book on Disc 5. It's there...it really is! It's just a bit of a treasure hunt to find it. Think Easter Eggs!

Put disc 5 in your computer. It will boot up automatically. "X" out of the program, but DON'T eject the disc. Now, if you're on a Mac, an icon of the DVD will appear on your desktop, for Windows you will find the DVD icon when you double click on My Computer. In either case, RIGHT CLICK on the icon and select "Open" from the flyout menu. Now a new window will open that shows two icons, one of which is the .pdf file of the book. Drag that to your desktop (or wherever else you may wish to store the file) and it will copy (this may take a few minutes, depending on the speed of your processor. Be patient.) When it's finished copying, you can remove the DVD. Now double-click the new .pdf BOOK icon and there you go! The TMBG Book in all it's glory!"

THX again Tobias,
first I had to search for it, because it wasn't on page 4, but on page 3.
David sent me the link and I was able to download the book.
I know it is also on the DVD, but the DVDs are in germany and I'm in russia
and I wanted to have a look at the book.
