Amp stand for DNS-210

If it's not a bass, and it's not an amp, but it's something you use when you're playing bass, talk about it here.

Amp stand for DNS-210

Postby RipVanDan » Wed Apr 08, 2020 9:48 pm

Wow! It is REALLY quiet around here lately!!!

After my gig in December last year with my DNS210 perched on top of my DNS-410, I figured out that I really didn't want to be anywhere near it when I have it up that high. I also found out that my DNS-210 was more than capable of filling a larger than medium-sized club with clear, clean, gorgeous, bass sound. It was a weird stage though and I ended up at first with the amp only about 3-feet behind me with the DNS-210 at ear level. Although I had the master on my Eden amp only at 10 o'clock, that cab was loud enough that it hurt my ears to be in front of it. I ended up shoving it off to my left a bit and bringing the whole stack forward enough that I got out of the 60° cone of dispersion of that cab. I didn't end up plugging the 410 in at all and it just ended up being a very expensive "amp stand".

I have since played with it on the floor both horizontally and vertically. I can hear the vertical better than the horizontal alignment of the two 10's, but don't dare turn it up because it will be too much for the room. So I finally decided to buy a "real" amp stand for it for the ghastly expensive price of just $20 ($19.99 from Musician's Friend). Seems to be plenty sturdy enough and says it will hold 150-lbs. My amp in its rack weighs about 36 pounds, plus 52 for the DNS-210 would be 88-lbs. So well within bounds.

And now...both my amp and my DNS-210 are at our rehearsal studio at our drummer's house. So the stand id just sitting in my gear closet waiting to be used. May have to play around a bit with the height to see which height notch is ideal, but I expect it will work just fine.

Our accoustic guitar player has one of those. Brings her amp up closer to her ears and she likes it a lot. Seems to hold a lot of weight quite securely.
Feel that bottom, eh?

Yeah, and it was all of $20! I saw quite a few for $50 - $150 and was a bit apprehensive about ordering this one, but it's plenty sturdy enough to hole my DNS-210 and my WT500/800 in it's rack. One suggestion that I think I'll take is to hang the rubber legs of the rack in front of the front edge of the cab just to make sure it doesn't slide off the back of the cab while I'm playing.

How deep (front to back) is the support rack? Not enough to fully support the bottom of the cab?

The inside leg measurements are 8" and 12½" and the legs are at a 45° angle, so most of the weight is centered at the junction of the two legs. I don't anticipate any problem with stability, but I won't be able to try it out until I can get to my cab. That may be months from now... :(
