EHX Bass Clone Chorus

If it's not a bass, and it's not an amp, but it's something you use when you're playing bass, talk about it here.

EHX Bass Clone Chorus

Postby rinos88 » Sat Aug 12, 2017 5:02 pm

I picked one of these up a while back and have been experimenting with it. It's a super cool sound because it only modulates the upper frequencies and doesn't warble the lows out. Do any of y'all use a bass chorus?

Live, I've mostly only gone straight to my amp but have been experimenting lately at practice and home.

I don't currently use any pedals, but the problem with chorus for bass was always the low end. The chorus on the low end was warble and rumble-city even though it makes the rest of the bass sound fuller. I think that low end cut is key to making work on a bass. Eden also puts out a chorus pedal the "I-90" that has a low cut control so you can dial in just how low you want the chorus effect to go. You probably don't really need it, but that kind of accessory is a kick to play with and you may find a setting that you can really use

I use an Eden Chorus pedal.
It also keeps the bottom nice and tight.
The i90 has a low cut adjustment and it is your choice how much lows you want to keep untouched.

I remember having a D.O.D. Deep Freeze in the early 90's. It sounded amazing....... until the band kicked in. It totally warbled me out of the mix. It's probably the reason that I've stayed away from bass chorus for all these years.

I've never seen that Eden unit.

Is it a David era Eden product, or after he left?

I'm gonna look one up tonight.

That was like the first pedal they came out with after the WTDI. Not sure it if David had already left then or not. Armin or Lane would probably know....Lane, you out there bud??

As long as the money doesn't go to US Musicorp that took the company from David, I may check one out one of these days. They screwed me out of about $1200 and gave me a serious run around of which I was never reimbursed or given a product for. Long story, but royally sucked.

Although, I think I heard a while back that Marshall was buying the company.

Yes, Marshall owns Eden now.

Yep, Marshall is the owner for a few years already and things are running much better now.
And yes, the pedals were created after David.
But he still works as a consultant for them from time to time.
