Bass mods , tricked out , pimped out Show me what You've got

:o
" It's Alive "
Maybe I'm just nuts ( yep I am as mad as a cut snake ! )
I've owned lots of Basses in all price ranges , but I like a mutant bass.
Here is a few of them !
First my main bass at the moment the PRS 4 , yep who likes them but me !
Well the pickups were rubbish , so off to the shop and about $900 later the worlds only Paul Ray Smith the Duncans are massive and passive , one volume pot, one tone pot , a 3 way switch and truck loads of tone variation.
I have also got it setup and tuned down to low G# not bad for a 32 inch scale bass , plays well and sounds great..
Yep I like it.

Next in my Freak show , another passive bass , well it was a piece of rubbish till a rebuild , glued the bridge , replaced tuners ect.
Then I got carried away and did a defret !
The Epi Goth TBird Fretless has lots of Bark ! And looks well o k I guess

Next Freak is the Danelctro Longhorn , it started it's life as a short scale 4 string and I guess I got bored one day and turned it into a Baritone , the LP bridge fitted almost into the old bridge holes the added bonus is I can adjust the innotation now the Goto tuners are better than the old ones too !
I have to use a pick but this Dano always goes to every gig as a backup bass from upright tones to modern tones it's all there and lots of fun to play !
I just have to remember not to have too much fun.

I have a Gretsch Jet Baritone that I like as is.
The next installment will be the Ibanez Jet Kings , I have the JTKB300 put away it may get Q Tuner pups in the neck and bridge.
Then I will get The JTKB200 do a defret and a transplant with T V Jones Thundertrons
it's a sickness , but I can't stop !

( edit 2 days later )
I have a no name Jazz Bass 5er on the way !
Here we go again , " it's Pimpen time "

So there you Go !
Show me your Mutants , Freaks or just anything that's not normal
:ugeek:    :happy-smileygiantred:

Black fret wire would be good , no it's just a dark rosewood so I used an Ebony accrilic filler , I now have Rotosound TrueBass strings on it they are black tapewounds so it's black on black on black , I also pimped it with some glow in the dark dot markers.
Yep I need to get a life
!
Or do I
;)

Thanks Lane , well life is the greatest adventure !
I wouldn't do some things again , but I wouldn't change anything.
My Basses are like the Ladies in my life , they come and they go .
I remember everyone of them , I look forward to meeting the next one .
Blah , Blah , time to stop this is sounding like a Blues song !
Basses and Life , I think your doing O K on that too , Cheers

This is my Fender Freak'n'stein SOTJB that has breaken both my heart and my back a lot of times. I love/hate her, we can't live without each other...

Cool Roger
I'm still thinking about those Q Tuner pups for my Ibi JTKB-300.
And Neon pink DR strings.
The new Neons from DR look pretty cool.
www.drstrings.com/neon-strings-gallery
check them out.

'First my main bass at the moment the PRS 4 , yep who likes them but me !'
You are not alone. I know several dub\reggae guys that love the PRS 4. Even with stock pick ups.
