Given the intensive work that went into specing and designing the cabinets/ports, drivers, etc for the DNA cabs, I doubt very much that putting DNA drivers in old cabs will result in much of value as an outcome. Given the differences, the results could be worse performance than the original speakers...

You set up the gain for your bass through the WTX (it is your preamp) so that you are feeding a fully saturated signal to whatever amp you are using (whether the internal WTX amp or an external one).
